Literature Text

You bring out the wolf in me.

The hazel eyes.
The I-can-see-you
but you can't see me,
unless I want you to

bring out the wolf in me,

The half-starved mutt,
Give me your attention
and primal passion in me,

The dinner outside, lay under the stars,
if you're lucky I'll sing songs
to the moon
in me,

The drum beat, heart beat,
panting on-the-run heat,

Snow looks better
in my hair, and I left footprints
under your window in me.

The toothy-smiled, but
I couldn't be more scared,
please don't hurt me or I'll run
creature in me.

You bring out the wolf in me,
loving in the dark
and lonely places, because two is a pack
and you raise the ruff on me,

I could be a loyal companion, but the blood is wild
in me,

and you, yes, you
bring out the wolf in me.
First assignment for my poetry class.
